Teacher Kasie- Orca Room Fourth Grade

My name is Kasie Shakoor. I love food, I love to travel, and I am very interested in learning new languages. I recently traveled to Juneau, Alaska where I got engaged. I graduated from CSUMB with a degree in Psychology. I am currently attending CalState teach to further my teaching credential and gain more knowledge. This is my first year at Oasis and my second full year of teaching. Before having my own classroom I was a substitute teacher and summer English teacher volunteer in Sale, Morocco. I love to adventure and try new things. This lead to my strong belief that all should have the ability to learn and reflect on their experiences; which is on reason why I love teaching.

Teacher Kaitlyn- Angler fish Room Fifth Grade

My name is Mrs. Kaitlyn and I am the fifth grade teacher this year! I am so excited to be joining the oasis family for my sixth year teaching. I am originally from south Alabama, and moved to Los Altos last year to teach while my husband was working in his masters degree at Stanford. We moved to Monterey this summer, because my husband is in the Army. We got married this summer in Atlanta, GA and spent two amazing weeks in Germany! I love to travel, and spend as much time with my family as I can. I’m an avid reader, which is something I hope to instill in my students this year. My favorite place to relax is the beach, and we are loving exploring Monterey and it’s surrounding areas ion the weekends. We’re going to have a great year!

I enjoy time with my 4 kids and our dog at home and the park. I currently hold a Master’s degree in Education from Ashford University and am finishing my teaching credential at Brandman University in Monterey. I am a lifelong learner and strongly believe that, in order to truly grow, you must learn something new each day. I enjoy math, especially Algebra and look forward to sharing that joy with my students. I also believe in the Growth Mindset and will be supporting that in my classroom.
